Budget, Procurement Transparency Are Points Of Concern For BioPreferred Program

Agri-Pulse sought comments from PBPC Executive Director Jessica Bowman on a $3 million program designed to grow the market for biobased products that will be one of many under legislative scrutiny as discussions surrounding the 2023 Farm Bill ramp up. Under current federal acquisition regulations, a messy reporting system makes it difficult to determine whether these requirements are actually being met by agencies.

Growing Biobased Products Industry Helps Support Rural Communities

Brownfield Ag News interviewed PBPC Executive Director Jessica Bowman about a recent speech she gave during the 2022 National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Winter Policy meeting. Bowman noted there was interest among NASDA members to help support the industry and bring opportunities back to their states. She said the Plant Based Products Council is focused on growing the bioproducts industry and helping realize the environmental and economic potential of the products.

89% Of Consumers Support Companies That Make Plant-Based Products

The Beet covered PBPC’s 2021 consumer research program in a recent article. There is no doubt that plant-based foods are now mainstream, and new research from the Plant Based Products Council (PBPC) indicates that plant-based consumer interest is higher than ever. The report details that 89 percent of consumers are somewhat, very, or extremely likely to support a company that produces and/or uses products made from plants.

We must invest in compost infrastructure to match growing demand for sustainable products

PBPC Executive Director Jessica Bowman recently penned an op-ed in Waste Dive on how improvements in composting and recycling infrastructure are necessary to capitalize on the environmental benefits of plant-based products. The op-ed draws on the results from PBPC’s 2021 consumer research study to demonstrate the market demand for plant-based products and provides policy solutions for how the United States can improve our waste management infrastructure.

Annual Research Report Reveals High Favorability and Familiarity of Plant-Based Products

WASHINGTON, DC – New research from the Plant Based Products Council (PBPC) shows growing interest in and demand for products made from renewable materials. The report illustrates a growing awareness of and commitment to plant-based product offerings, along with the specific inputs used to create them. The study also underscores consumer interest in supporting companies who produce and innovate plant-based products.

The second annual consumer survey of 1,054 adults, conducted June-July 2021, explores the public’s perception and understanding of renewable and sustainable materials and products.
